Quadrilateral Song by Rockin' the Standards

Quadrilateral
Quadrilateral has many shapes
Many shapes has quadrilateral
A square is one of them
Congruent sides
And 4 right angles too
Right arm

Quadrilateral has many shapes
Many shapes has quadrilateral
A parallelogram, opposite sides
Both sets are parallel
Right arm, left arm

Quadrilateral has many shapes
Many shapes has quadrilateral
Rectangle’s one of them
The corners square
4 right angles around

Right arm, left arm, right leg

Quadrilateral has many shapes
Many shapes has quadrilateral
A trapezoid is one, 2 parallel
But the other 2 are not
Right arm, left arm, right leg, left leg

Quadrilateral has many shapes
Many shapes has quadrilateral
Rhombus could be a square
Or diamond too
Must have congruent sides
Right arm, left arm, right leg, left leg
FOUR SIDES!

Triangles Song

(Tune: Here Go Round the Mulberry Bush)

Here we go round the triangle bush
The triangle bush, the triangle bush
Here we go round the triangle bush

Equilateral triangle
3 congruent sides

Isosceles triangle, triangle, triangle
Isosceles triangle
2 congruent sides

Scalene Scalene triangle, triangle, triangle
Scalene Scalene triangle
No congruent sides

This-is-a-right triangle, triangle, triangle
This-is-a-right triangle
A right angle it has

Study Skills to Help You Get Better Test Grades

1) Science and Social Studies are subjects that build so they must be studied a little at a time. Start with 30 minutes a day and work up to an hour a day. EVERYDAY!!!

2) Take a 10-15 minute break for every hour that you study. Go play a game, text a friend, etc.

3) Color code your notes. Studies have shown that the brain can relate information to colors.

4) Use flashcards - make flashcards so it is easy to study on the go when you don't have access to a computer.

5) The night before a test.... DO NOT CRAM!!! Take it easy and make sure to get a good night sleep.

6) Use highlighters to highlight important vocab words or paraphrase concepts.

7) Rewrite your notes from the day. Studies have also shown that you are more likely to remember things when you write them..... repeatedly.

8) On test day....... DO NOT TALK TO ANYONE ABOUT THE TEST OR THE MATERIAL ON THE TEST! Stay in your own world. If you understand a concept one way and start talking to someone who understands it differently, you could get confused and start second guessing yourself.

9) On multiple-choice exams, always go with your first instinct.

10) As test anxiety seems to afflict more and more learners, the best way to combat this is to be well prepared. Studying without distraction is the best. Meaning, not TV, phone, noise, etc. to distract you.

Song: Teach A Mouse to Save Water

(Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)

Save water, a mouse will do,
If you sweetly ask him to.
Low- flow shower head he'll install;
Fix his faucet; that's not all.
He'll make a plan just to show
How every day he slows the flow!

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
(Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)

If you give a mouse a sweet,
He will ask you for another treat:
A cookie, milk and then a straw,
Read a story; help him draw.
Friends are like that; yes they are.
When you help them, you’re a star!
